With
this new album for White Cloud I've again drawn on my
passion for Celtic and medieval stories; from the legends
surrounding the Grail before it became a Hollywood image;
from the Bardic tale of Deirdre, the 'Lady of Sorrows',
who begged to be buried with her lover, and 'The Green
Man' or 'Jack-o-the-Green', the forester who inspired
the fable of Robin Hood.
Songs like 'To Hear the River Sing' and 'Shantyman'
are from my own imagination, coming to life through
Jayne Elleson's wonderful vocals. 'When a Knight won
his Spurs' is a song half remembered from my early schooldays
that just seemed to fit in perfectly with the mood of
the new album.
Jayne and I love the emotional multi-layered vocal harmonies
and lush warm string and pad sounds from 'The Blessing
Tree' album (White Cloud 11036-2) so we're sure this
new album will please others like ourselves who listen
with their imagination as well as their ears.
